製造工程の痕跡を可視化したアルミ家具コレクション
「Klon Klon（クロン クロン）」は、レーザーカットや曲げ、溶接といった板金加工の痕跡を意図的に残し、それらをデザインに組み込むことで製造のプロセスを可視化するアルミ家具のコレクションです。
Klon Klon is a collection of aluminum furniture that deliberately retains traces of sheet metal processing, such as laser cutting, bending, and welding, incorporating these into the design to visualize the manufacturing process.
工業製品の製造工程では、切断や溶接、研磨といった作業の痕跡は通常、完成に至る過程で取り除かれ最終製品にはほとんど残りません。均一で滑らかな仕上がりが求められる一方、その過程は見えにくくなります。デザイナーSiin Siinは、こうした「見えなくなるプロセス」に着目し、製造過程そのものをデザインの主題としました。
In industrial manufacturing, traces of processes such as cutting, welding, and grinding are typically removed as production advances, leaving little evidence in the final product. While uniformity and smoothness are generally prioritised, the process becomes less visible. Siin Siin focuses on these 'vanishing processes', treating manufacturing as an essential design element.
Klon Klonは厚さ4mmのアルミ板をレーザーカットした面材で構成されており、平面のものと円弧に曲げたものの2種類が用いられています。レーザーカット断面には加工時の痕跡がそのまま残されています。平面のアルミ板には曲面のアルミ板に沿うように丸穴が設けられ、2種類のアルミ板は丸穴を介して溶接されています。これにより通常は見えなくなる溶接の痕跡が、穿たれた丸穴とともに浮かび上がります。
Klon Klon comprises laser-cut 4mm-thick aluminium sheets in flat and curved forms. The cut edges retain traces of the fabrication process. The flat sheets feature circular perforations that align with the curved sheets, allowing the two components to be welded together through these openings. As a result, welding marks—typically concealed—remain visible, becoming part of the structure itself.

Siin Siin is a Tokyo-based designer whose practice spans small-scale production of objects, primarily furniture, spatial design as compositions of objects, and commissioned collaborations across disciplines. His work engages with the traces left in and around making materials and forms, integrating these residual marks into his pieces through research and close observation.
